Top Four Wrinkle Causes & How to Avoid Them

1. Sun Exposure

The sun is the number one cause of wrinkles. It's a little hard to avoid, but there are some ways that you can lessen the damage and keep your skin looking pristine for a longer period. The first, and most important thing that you can do, is to wear sunscreen daily! Even when it's overcast outside, your skin will still reap the benefits of sunscreen. Another thing you can do is wear sunglasses or shade your eyes with a hat. This will decrease the probability of you squinting and developing those undesirable crow's feet.

2. Dietary Habits

When it comes to wrinkles, what goes in your body is just as important as what goes on your body. Having a poor diet can really effect your skin negatively. Give your skin the building blocks of greatness by incorporating more nutrient and antioxidant rich foods. Make an effort to eat more fish, especially salmon. Salmon contains Omega-3, which is an essential fatty acid that helps nourish the skin. Antioxidants fight damage from free radicals and protect against some photo-aging effects. Get your antioxidants by upping your intake of fruits and vegetables.

3. Skincare

Be nice to your skin and you'll be looking youthful and radiant in no time! Over-washing and under-moisturizing are some real skin no-no's. When you over-wash you are stripping your skin of its natural barrier oils that moisturize and protect against wrinkles. For some extra wrinkle protection, add a topical Vitamin C and a Retinoid to your routine. Vitamin C can increase collagen production, protect against sun damage, correct pigmentation problems, and improve inflammatory skin conditions. Retinoids, like Retinol, reduce fine lines and large wrinkles, as well as repair sun damage.

4. Sleep

Studies have shown that when you get an adequate amount of sleep, your body will produce more HGH (human growth hormone), which helps to keep your skin more elastic and thick, and less likely to wrinkle. In addition to the amount, how you sleep can have an effect on your wrinkles, too! To reduce the formation of "sleep lines", it's recommended to sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side increases the likelihood of chin and cheek wrinkles, while sleeping face-down can lead to "furrowed brow" lines.

Summer Foundation Alternatives

Summer is a time for barbecuing, relaxing by the pool, and enjoying the sunny weather! It's a carefree time of year. The last thing you want to do is worry about a heavy coat of foundation melting off the side of your face. Sure, if you have great skin and an even better self-image, you can go out into the blazing heat without makeup, but not everyone is as blessed and/or brave enough to bare it all. Luckily for us timid and blemished skin types, there are a few ways to dodge the caked up foundation, while still looking flawless and summer ready! Read on for our top three alternatives to piling on the makeup in this summer heat!

BB Cream

The BB in BB Cream stands for Beauty Balm (or Blemish Balm). These lightweight creams not only enhance your skin tone, but they also moisturize and provide sun protection. We recommend the G.M. Collin Mineral BB Cream, which features self-adjusting pigments to give you a beautiful, natural glow!

CC Creams

If you feel your skin needs a little more TLC than the BB Cream can offer, try out a CC Cream! CC stands for Color Correcting. Like the BB Cream, the CC Cream features skin hydrating and protecting ingredients, but this cream focuses on color correction to give you the confidence and coverage that you desire. My favorite is the Osmosis Colour CC Cream, which is formulated to soften, lift, and illuminate!

Tinted Moisturizers & Sunscreens

Perhaps your skin is not so troubled, and you just want a healthy glow? Tinted Moisturizers and Sunscreens give you a no-hassle, ultra-natural complexion in just one easy step! With just a hint of color, and loads of beneficial ingredients, your skin will be thanking you! For dry skin, we recommend Pur Minerals 4-In-1 Mineral Tinted Moisturizer, which is packed with powerful hydrators
and proven correctives! If you're more on the oily side, try something like GloTherapeutics Moisturizing Tint SPF 30, which is sheer and oil-free!
