New Year, New Releases!

This is really not my favorite time of year. There are no big holidays to look forward to (sorry Valentine’s Day), spring is around the corner but definitely not sprung, the cold and wet and dark days are set to continue for another, oh, say two months? I know many of you up there in those northern climes have much more wintertime to deal with, and my heart goes out to you. But I have a little something to cheer us all up, because it’s not all doom and gloom, I promise! Most companies release new products throughout the year, but many save big revamps for the beginning of the year. A number of our most popular brands have done just that, and you should let that add some sunshine to your life!

1.Bioelements Plump Start
Bioelements is no joke, a leader in the industry insofar as professional training is concerned. That’s actually how they started.  Inevitably, when they release a new product, it’s because they’ve seen a
need and have found a solution that they trust enough to use in their spas all over the country. And the best part of THAT is that it is one of their company tenants that you, the customer, should be able to maintain your treatment at home with the same quality product. That’s right. They make esthetician quality products for you. Enter their latest release, Plump Start. What do they say about it?

“Plum-infused antioxidant concentrate instantly improves fullness, nourishes and smooths out fine lines. It's intelligent hydration that reads your skin and penetrates where it's needed – to visually improve the look of skin's wrinkle valleys and crevices.”

What we’ve noticed? Bioelements doesn’t do a product release halfway. I’ve tried a sample and my dry, sensitive skin drank it up. I’m definitely considering buying the full-sized unit and seeing what plumping my skin every day will do.

We just started carrying Enjoy after receiving recommendations from friends and customers alike, and this brand has been FLYING off the shelves! Everyone I’ve talked to loves the delicious scent, the hair-aware ingredients and the efficacy of the products. I know I’m in love with the Luxury Conditioner (I alternate it with another favorite of mine to keep the crazy curls hydrated), but their new release, the Protect & Shine is all about keeping your locks smooth, shiny and protected from heat treatments. As the weather heats up and you start pulling out your curling iron, keep this treasure in mind.

3. GloMinerals Limited Edition Lipsticks
Who doesn’t love a little bit of a pretty pick-me-up? If you haven’t fallen for GloMinerals Lipsticks yet, now is the perfect opportunity to give them a try. While these two particular colors are in production, GloMinerals is even donating a portion of the proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. And what are they? Glaze is a warm brown sugar with a hint of sparkle that layers beautifully. Confetti is your classic light pink, airy and fabulous with its hint of tutus and candy. Both are sweet limited edition releases that your beauty bag probably needs.

Keep your chin up (and I’ll try to, too)! The New Year is off to a great start with great new products being dropped left and right. As that happens, we’ll be right there with you to let you know what’s up! ;)

2016 Beauty Trends

A new year can mean a lot in the beauty products, new styles, new trends, and new ideas! From fashion shows to the Golden Globes, we're seeing some amazing hints at 2016 being another bold and beautiful year! Read on for some tips on how to pull off these exciting new trends!

Pony Play

There's a few new twists on your favorite lazy day up-do! We saw two variations of the classic ponytail at the Golden Globe Awards. Saoirse Ronan had her hair tied back with a beautiful piece of golden twine. This look was achieved by first prepping the hair with mousse and then rolling the twine around her hair. Now that's something we have to try! Olivia Wilde, another Golden Globe stunner, also played with the idea of a ponytail by sporting a loose, "barely there" ponytail that featured cascades of wavy, beautiful hair! She accompanied this look with heavy burgundy eye makeup, which paired brilliantly with her blue-green eyes. If you're looking for her waves, spritz on some Enjoy Texturizer to enhance your hairs volume and create texture.

Glitzy Eyes

Whether it's going bold with glitter, or easing into it with some metallic shimmer, we're seeing some fantastic shiny eyes this year! Show your interpretation of this fun trend with the gloMinerals gloMetallic Smoky Eye Kit or achieve a subtle glitter with the gloMinerals Jeweled Eye Pencil in Fizz!

Twisted Locks

Braids are so in right now. This was made clear at the Golden Globe Awards, where it wasn't just the ladies who were rocking the braids! Jared Leto said goodbye to the man-bun and hello to the stylish man-braid. He gets two thumbs up over here! Another fantastic braid we saw was on Rooney Mara. Her high and tight, sleek braid was executed perfectly! Braiding can be hard, but we've got some expert tips for you! Dry shampoo, bobby-pins, and tiny elastic bands are your best friends! Don't be afraid to go messy, and when all else fails, there is hairspray! It's easier to work with not-so-clean hair, but if you do happen to desire a braid on your squeaky clean hair, add a touch of texture with a spray like Rusk Thick Body And Texture Amplifier.

A Vision in Blue

Be it a pop of color or an extreme azure lining, blue is making it's mark in the beauty world! This look can be seen all over the runway and it's quite an attractive statement! We've been experimenting with the Pur Cosmetics Double Ego Liner in order to give our eyes a burst of color! This trend is a reminder of the eighties and is quite fun to play around with!

Sweet Lips

We're seeing a lot of candy coated lips this season! From J.Lo's candy apple red, to Laverne Cox's black cherry, it's clear that we'll be seeing a lot more deliciously dark shades this year! Don't be afraid to dip into this trend. In order to pull the perfect pout off, try going matte. Glossy is beautiful, but can be messy, especially when going dark! We recommend gloMinerals Suede Matte Stick in Port or gloMinerals Suede Matte Crayon in Bombshell.

How To Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

Have you come up with any resolutions for this upcoming year? We've all heard the phrase, "new year, new you", but when it comes to New Year's resolutions, some end up biting off more than they can chew. Instead of making drastic changes, start 2016 off right by making smarter resolutions! If you start with incremental changes, they will be much easier to keep up with and way more likely to form habits. Read on for some healthy examples of realistic resolutions that will help you reach your goals.

This resolution is always the hardest one to keep up with. You start out with good intentions and say something like, "no alcohol, no junk food, no sweets", or maybe even the dreaded, "no coffee". If you're making a resolution to stop eating or drinking a certain thing, chances are that it is because you are already consuming that thing on the daily! Cutting your favorites out of your diet can be a major lifestyle shock. Rather than setting your goal as a definitive no, try starting slow and merely cutting the occurrences in half, or majorly cutting back. When you cut it out completely, you're more likely to slip up, think you failed, and give up on the change. Cutting your intake in half is a lot more doable than thinking about 365 days without!

One thing that is a huge resolution mistake: Vagueness. Your goal should be focused. If you simply say, I want to exercise in 2016; you may find yourself putting it off each day. Try to be as specific as you can. Maybe you've always wanted to run a marathon? My advice for you, especially if you haven't ran a mile since gym class, is to start slow. Give yourself mini goals that will encourage you to not give up. Hit the trail (or treadmill) twice a week. Once you're comfortable with that you can begin slowly increasing either the length or the frequency of your runs! Soon enough you'll be ready for what seemed impossible in the beginning.

This year can be a beautiful year! Maybe you're ready to try a new skincare regimen, or change up your daily beauty routine? Whatever the case, we've got the tools for you! Maybe you're finally addressing some skin concerns that you just couldn't bear to deal with last year. The New Year is a perfect time to get a fresh start on your skin! Perhaps you are a woman that barely wears any makeup and you're slowly trying to transition. You can ease into a more dramatic look this year with one simple thing: Mascara! Mascara is one of the things that instantly brighten up a look. From there, you can go anywhere! I personally like to finish off the look with a natural looking blush and a shiny gloss, but the possibilities are endless!

People tend to forget that resolutions are not just about giving things up. Make this year a happy year! Whether it's building your career, picking up a hobby, or just trying new things, make sure you set time aside this year for whatever makes you happy! It's okay to start small and it's okay to think outside of the box. Help yourself this year by making a list of things that might interest you, perhaps a list of career goals, hobbies that you've been putting off, maybe even new recipes to try. If you've always wanted to try writing, get a journal. If you've wanted to try yoga, join a weekly class. Make happiness happen by giving yourself time to figure out what it is that you enjoy, and then doing that activity!

Whatever your resolution may be, remember to start small and don't give up!
