Top Rated Acne Spot Treatments

Summertime means hotter weather, vacation getaways and unfortunately for many of us, oily skin and pimples.  Summer is also a carefree time when you might want to wear less makeup, so you don't want to worry about concealing those annoying breakouts.  With our wide selection of the best acne products, we wanted to break down the 5 top rated spot treatments for you.

  1. Avene TriAcneal fights breakouts, redness and residual scarring by deeply exfoliating skin and promoting cell renewal.  One reviewer even noted that "in the summer when my skin gets more oily and I have more breakouts this works wonders!"  With Glycolic Acid and Retinaldehyde, it's a multi-tasker at keeping skin wrinkle free too.
  2. Treat all aspects of blemish prone skin with the organic Sircuit Skin Fixzit+.  Reviewers state that this serum offers "immediate repair of blemished skin" and is "the best way to kill a zit."
  3. Another natural powerhouse, Lerosett Acne Clay Treatment, can be used as a spot treatment or mask.  As one of the most reviewed products on our site, this clay normalizes oil and fights all types of acne - whether it be the occasional pimple or deep cystic acne.  Clients also love it for treating ingrown hairs, acne scars, pregnancy related acne, large pores and oily skin.
  4. The amazing multi-tasking iS Clinical Active Serum has been a favorite among clients, celebrities, and the beautystoredepot staff for many years.  Users state that it effectively decreases the frequency, size, redness, and healing time of blemishes while also improving overall skin tone and texture.
  5. Treat and conceal breakouts during the day with Dermalogica mediBac Concealing Spot Treatment.  It also helps normalize excess oil production associated with the hot summer months.  Clients love that this product gets rid of blemishes before they reach the surface and it doesn't dry out skin.

Spotlight on: ReGenesis

Many of us have heard of the incredible benefits of RevitaLash for thin eyelashes and eyebrows.  The same science behind the amazing lash products now brings us ReGenesis for fine and thinning hair!

ReGenesis was created around the RevitaLash Advanced Conditioner (now ReGenesis Fast-Absorbing Foam).  While some brands may offer products for a variety of concerns, ReGenesis focuses on fine and thinning hair for men AND women.  With a combination of plant extracts and scientific cosmetic ingredients, products enhance the natural volume of hair while improving the health of your hair and scalp.

Key ingredients include:
  • Flax protein plumps the hair strands
  • Belarus Bioactive Silt lifts impurities from the scalp, which is essential so that scalp treatments can effectively penetrate for optimum results
  • BioPeptin Complex strengthens hair
  • Biotin promotes healthy hair growth

ReGenesis offers an easy to follow regimen:
  1. Use the Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner as needed
  2. Use the Fast-Absorbing Foam (for short hair or men) or Micro-Targeting Spray (for long hair or women) once daily
  3. Apply the Detox Hair and Scalp Masque once or twice a week to the scalp to lift impurities and support scalp health
  4. Apply the convenient rollerball Spot Serum 2-3 times daily on trouble zones like the hairline, part and crown.

Get Bikini Body Ready

Get bikini body ready with our helpful tips and tricks!

  1. Exercise and eating right are at the top of our list.  It's not always easy or fun to get in a workout so get a buddy to join you to make it more fun.  If you enjoy your workouts, you're more likely to stick to it.  Switch up your exercises too to keep from getting bored. Even if you can only squeeze in a 10 minute walk at lunchtime, you're on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
  2. As far as eating right, cut out empty calories and make sure you're drinking enough water.  Also decrease your salt intake as salty foods contribute to water retention and can make you look bloated.  Aim for a healthy protein-rich breakfast and have healthy snacks on hand to curb your cravings throughout the day.  For lunch and dinner, make sure to eat lots of veggies. We love searching Pinterest for easy and delicious smoothies and other healthy recipes.
  3. Beauty products have come a long way and can also help trim your waistline.  Ingredients like caffeine and orange peel tighten skin, promote circulation and pull out toxins, eliminating annoying cellulite.  We love Mio Skincare for its firming, toning and tightening products, and you can't go wrong with the Fat Girl line from bliss.
  4. Let's face it, if you're getting into a bikini, you're going to use some form of hair removal.  To get smooth, beach ready skin, you also need to prep and treat skin appropriately after removal.  To help you get that smooth skin, read our tips in our Razor Burn and Ingrown Hairs post.
  5. I don't know about you, but I always feel more confident in a swimsuit when I've got a tan.  Go the safe route with self tanner.  Be sure to check out our 10 Tips to a Flawless Self Tan.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

As a new mom, I wanted to share some suggestions for Mother's Day gifts.

  1. You can't go wrong with something handmade from the kids or grandkids.  Whether it's a card, a picture frame or a yummy batch of cookies, this is a holiday where it really is the thought that counts.  If you're drawing a blank on ideas, check out Pinterest for easy and unique handmade gifts.
  2. Everyone likes to be treated special every now and then.  Some of my favorite luxuries are a good massage, mani/pedi, a great meal and flowers.  Figure out what special treat your mom really loves, (even if you just have to ask her), and take her out or give her a gift card to her favorite place.
  3. Moms don't always get a lot of time to themselves.  Usually the little time I get is when I'm showering so I really like nice bath and body products.  When mom can't get out to the spa, bring the spa to her!  She'll love a nice sugar scrub, creamy body butter, or a luxurious set
  4. Next time you visit her, try to sneak a peek at what's in her makeup bag or vanity.  Surprise her with her favorite products or an awesome new spring lip shade from gloMinerals, Osmosis Colour or Pur Minerals.
  5. Sometimes, it's not the "what" that matters and your mom just wants to spend some time with you!  Give her a visit or a phone call to let her know how much you care.

What are your special plans for Mother's Day this year?  Let us know!

Until next time... stay tuned, stay beautiful, and happy Mother's Day!
