Your 411 on PhotoFacials

Before you consider botox or surgery, DEFINITELY look into an IPL PhotoFacial.

A PhotoFacial is a series of gentle impulse light treatments and should be performed by a licensed Laser Specialist.  It is still not only an incredibly effective treatment with patients noticing between a 75-90% improvement in their skin, but it is also a very popular treatment due to their being little to no down time.

  • Will reduce and can eliminate redness and flushing of the skin along with other pigmentation issues
  • Tighten Skin
  • Reduce pore size
  • Smooth out irregularities in skin texture
  • To reduce acne
  • Helps reduce fine lines especially around the eyes and mouth
  • Reduces dark circles around the eyes

ANYONE who wants to have overall more youthful looking skin!  OR those with pigment and texture issues.  I swear by them and have for years now!

Your Licensed Laser Specialist will be able to best answer this question as it will depend on individual circumstances.  I had a series of three performed and was AMAZED with the results.  Since then, I continue to come in either every six months or annually to maintain my skin and because I simply LOVE the results so much!

I didn't experience any down time.  I did have a few darkened areas of my skin appear that I had to cover with makeup for a few days.  This is simply sun damage that is coming to the surface and healing.  Many people experience absolutely no down time, but again....it's going to be individually based.

If you have any questions, please feel free to comment and we will be happy to assist.  If you are local and here in the Austin area, contact Austin PhotoFacial and ask for Alana Andrews at: (512) 468-7502.

Until next time.....stay tuned and stay beautiful!

CosMedix Mystic

I know I keep writing about dry skin, but this Winter it has REALLY been a struggle for me.  Many things have helped, but I recently started using the CosMedix Mystic and FINALLY found my magic product!

I grabbed some off the shelf last week while I was in the office and have only been using it for about a week.  I have been using Mystic every morning and evening after washing my face along with using it to "set" my makeup after application.  My skin is FINALLY getting back to its normal state.  No more flaking and I am actually beginning to see a bit of a glow return.

One of the reasons I love this product so much is its ease of use.  I have no idea why, but when I have to apply a lotion or cream it always seems like more work, so sometimes at night it just doesn't happen during my nightly ritual.  With CosMedix Mystic, all I have to do is spray so I have been consistent with using it and the results speak for themselves.

Don't forget!  You can save 15% on every order by using code: PRESIDENTS at checkout.

Until next time......stay tuned and stay beautiful!

Pre and Post Care for Chemical Peels

To continue our discussion of chemical peels, I sat down and chatted again with Alana Andrews.  Alana is a Medical Aesthetician and National Laser Specialist who has been in the industry for over 10 years.  Big thanks again for her contribution!  If you're in the Austin area and would like a FREE CONSULTATION with Alana, she can be reached at Austin PhotoFacial 512-468-7502.

The following may all sound like a lot of work, but the results are truly amazing and far less intrusive than other options like cosmetic surgery.  Just take a look at these!

If you are having a LIGHT peel done, then no preparation is needed for your skin, although you can opt to do a Microdermabrasion a week or so before to simply enhance your results.

For a MEDIUM or DEEP peel the following preparations will remove dead skin cells to allow the peel to penetrate even deeper allowing for optimal results.  Remember, this would all be based on your Professional Recommendations by a Licensed Professional performing your peel.

  • Having Microdermabrasion sessions prior to your peel
  • Using a retinol product to help exfoliate your skin a week to 10 days prior to the peel.  Several of these products are often recommended from our site such as: CosMedix Define, Avene Retrinal, and a VERY POPULAR option is the CosMedix Peel Prep Kit
***PLEASE NOTE***  Make certain that you are ALWAYS using a sunblock while treating with any retinol product.

For a LIGHT peel, you would simply want to make certain that you are wearing a sunblock since your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage.

For a MEDIUM or DEEP peel the following post procedure steps are vitally important to not only prevent damage, but allow for your skin to properly heal and provide the absolute best results.

There are also specific kits that are designed for post treatments such as:  CosMedix After Care Kit and Avene SOS Complete Post-Procedure Recovery Kit.  You would still need a sunblock in addition.

If you're in the Austin area and would like a FREE CONSULTATION with Alana, she can be reached at Austin PhotoFacial 512-468-7502.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post and we will be happy to answer.

Until next time....stay tuned and stay beautiful!
