Hot for Fall: Matte Nail Tutorial

Matte finish has been a hot trend in beauty from lipstick to eye shadow.  A look we absolutely love this season is matte nail polish!  It's easy to transform any shade into a matte finish with OPI Matte Top Coat.

For our final Think Pink tutorial, we’ll help you create a matte pink manicure AND we’re giving you a bonus tutorial!

Think Pink: Matte Pink Manicure

Though it looks like it may be a little difficult, this look is actually really easy.  Just apply your base coat to clean nails as you would normally, followed by two applications of your color coat.  The base coat will keep the color from chipping.  For this vibrant pink look, we recommend OPI La Paz-itively Hot or I’m Indi-a Mood for Love.  For best application, apply the color to each nail in three strips, starting in the middle then painting each side.  Let your color coat dry, then apply your OPI Matte Top Coat.

And now, our bonus look:  Matte Black French Manicure

Again, start with your base coat on clean nails, then apply two coats of OPI Black Onyx.  Once it dries, apply one coat of Matte Top Coat over the whole nail.  Let that dry completely.  Using your Black Onyx again, apply a thin line across the tip of each nail.  Since it’s black on black, you won’t have to worry as much about being super precise.  But, if you’re like me, and know you’ll probably mess up somehow, you can simply put clear tape on the part of the nails that will stay matte, then apply the Black Onyx to the tips.  This technique would be beautiful and chic with other dark nail colors too.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial.  If there is a certain beauty look you need help creating, let us know!

Until next time… stay tuned and stay beautiful!

Think Pink: OPI Pink of Hearts Tutorial

For our third Think Pink post, we’re focusing on nails!  Every year OPI releases a limited edition set for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Today, we'll show you two looks that you can create using OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 Duo.

This first look uses both polishes from the Pink of Hearts Duo, the classic soft pink Pink-ing of You and the gotta-have-it glitter polish, More Than a Glimmer.  What we love about this silver, pink and teal glitter is that it starts as a milky base then dries with a matte finish.

Think Pink: OPI Pink of Hearts Tutorial

We always recommend starting with a base coat to prep nails for your color polish.  This will help keep polish from chipping.  Let the base coat dry before applying your color coat.  Starting with Pink-ing of You, apply polish in three strips – start in the middle of the nail, then apply a strip of color to each side.  Wait a couple of minutes then apply a second color coat.

Once your color dries, apply More Than a Glimmer as your top coat.  For more glitter, apply more than one coat.  Keep in mind, this glitter polish has a matte finish.  If you prefer a shiny finish, complete the look with a top coat.

Instead of glitter, you could top your pink shade with the cute decals from the duo.  Included in the set are 10 pink ribbon decals and 10 crystal decals.  Mix and match for a look that’s all your own.  If you want to get the look pictured, we recommend applying your base coat, then two coats of Pink-ing of You.  Apply the pink ribbon decals where you’d like and apply one coat of top coat to each nail.  Finish with your crystal decal.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this nail tutorial!  Check back soon for another tutorial on a hot nail trend for fall.

Until next time… stay tuned and stay beautiful!
