Look Fabulous For Your Valentine...Take Two!

Now that we’ve covered your Valentine’s makeup, we’ve got some great tips on creating romantic hair dos.  We’ll give you a variety of options to create that perfect look just for you!

If you’re looking for a romantic updo, you can take inspiration from the beautiful Claire Danes.  This updo is soft and simple and only requires a few products.  The supplies you’ll need are a medium-barrel curling iron and bobby pins.
Valentine's Hair How-To Part 1

If washing your hair right before styling, apply a blow dry lotion, like Abba Smoothing Blowdry Lotion to damp hair.  For best results, blow dry hair section by section using a round brush, like one of these.  Now that your hair is prepped, it’s time to style!  Part your hair to the side, allowing front layers to sweeps slightly across your forehead.  Using your curling iron, loosely curl your hair from mid-shaft to the ends.  Gather curls to the back of your hair into a loose chignon (at the nape of neck), leaving a few face-framing layers loose.  Secure your curls with bobby pins, then set with a lightweight flexible hairspray like Keratin Complex Flex Flow Finishing Hairspray.  If you’re in for a long night, or your hair needs extra hold, we’ve got a wide selection of hairsprays for your needs.

Short on time?  Use a dry shampoo like Osis+ by Schwarzkopf Refresh Dust Bodifying Dry Shampoo to refresh hair, remove excess oils, and give texture, body and bounce.  Be sure to apply this section by section and allow 1-2 minutes for it to dry, before brushing hair, then styling.  Allow a few face-framing layers to lie loose, while pulling the rest of hair into a bun with your fingers.  This creates your soft, romantic look.  Now curl your face-framing layers, and set with lightweight hairspray.  (Quick note, you can emulate Claire Danes’s style even further by pairing your look with a flowy v-neck red dress, perfect for Valentine’s Day!)
Valentine's Hair How To Part 2

Updos are a breeze for short hair too!  For this look, you can get inspiration from the always chic, Victoria Beckham.  Sometimes short hair falls flat easily, so you’ll need a little help creating texture.  Apply MOP C-System Texture Spray to damp or dry hair (just be sure to blowdry hair if needed, before styling).  If you prefer a paste, use Phyto Pro Matte Texturizing Paste on dry hair for flexible control, a hint of shine, and a carefree “bedhead” look.  To add a little oomph and create volume to dry hair, use a teasing brush section by section.  Starting with lower lengths, pull hair sections back to the nape of neck and pin in place with bobby pins.  It’s okay if your bobby pins show as this look is fun and flirty!  (Quick note, copy Beckham’s style by wearing a nude or neutral tone dress, and adding bold accessories like a cocktail ring or belt.)

Last minute date?  If you only have a few minutes to prep before meeting your Valentine, use Curlisto Glow & Shine to eliminate frizz and give your hair some added shine.  It’s great for curly or straight hair!  Or clip in a cute embellished hair clip or flower.  This is fail-proof whether you’re hitting the town with friends or being treated to a fancy date.

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Until next time...stay tuned and stay beautiful.
