Look Fabulous For Your Valentine!

We decided to write a few separate Valentine's day blogs.....this one which will focus on that beautiful face of yours and next week's which will cover some really easy and SUPER CUTE hairdos.  And off we go....

Look Fabulous for Your Valentine!

To have the perfect pallete to apply your Valentine's date makeup, you need to start with smooth, glowing skin.  I would recommend doing some sort of exfoliation now and then, a few days before your big date.  My all time favorite, gentle, and super yummy smelling exfoliant is glotherapeutics Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub.

Now that you have removed those lovely dead skin cells, you can reveal smoother skin that is perfect for applying your makeup!  I always prefer to wash my face and moisturize before putting my makeup on, although if you are working the day of your big date night, you can simply get your base makeup and then add some pizazz later.  If you are needing to cover a few fine lines, wrinkles, or blemishes, then I would recommend a primer. Primers can make a significant difference in coverage. My favorite is the gloMinerals gloFace primer. This should be used before your regular foundation.  Now onto foundation!  I use the Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture as my SPF, moisturizer, and light tint (foundation).  If you prefer a compact or liquid then we have several options...you can check them out here.  (Quick side note...I recently read an article stating that applying with a sponge is the way to go by gently pressing the foundation onto your skin.)  Now I would use my concealer to hide any blemishes that need some extra attention.  It has only been the last few years that I started to apply my concealer after the foundation and I love it. It blends in so naturally and provides better coverage.

Once you have your foundation perfected, then you can start with blush.  I am a firm believer in just a little bit of blush.  It gives your cheek bones just enough definition and allows for a more finished look.  The proper way to apply blush is to begin at the apple of your cheek and work your way upward towards your temple.  We have a ton of blushes to choose from.  My personal favorite is anything from gloMinerals.  Check out their selection here.  If you are a bronzer girl, then this would be the time to apply your bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin.  A great, compact bronzer is the Xen-Tan Perfect Bronzer.

Now for the eyes.  I use a little concealer on my lids for an even application and definitely would recommend it to anyone.  It provides better application and for the eye shadow to last much longer.  This is when I would also put on my under eye concealer.  The gloMinerals gloUnder Eye Concealer is a great option.  This will act as both your lid and under eye coverage in one convenient compact.  Eyes are such a personal thing...some ladies love to go all out with amazingly bold colors...others prefer a more natural look.  Regardless of what your preference is...we offer a wide range of shadows from natural to bold and everywhere between.  I go the more natural route throughout the week and then darker when I am venturing out.  A great idea is to get a compact that offers neutral and a darker color so you can have all of your shadow in one compact.  If you're wanting a good smoky eye, then check out our previous Fall Smoky Eye blog with step by step instructions.  Moving on to eye liner.  I use to be a devout black eye liner pencil girl, but recently I started using a brown eye shadow as my liner and I love it!  It's much more subtle.  Now it's mascara time!  I am a mascara Mama.  If I am wearing makeup, then I have some sort of mascara on at all times.  If you're not a curler, then you may want to give it a whirl.  I don't curl my lashes everyday, but for a big date night I always do!  I have fallen in love with the blinc Heated Lash Curler

Finally, the lips.  My Mums feels the way about lips that I feel about mascara.....it's a must!  She lines her lips with a pencil and then uses a lipstick.  She's incredibly impressive with her application as well....she doesn't even need a mirror!  I however, am a gloss girl.  I just prefer the look of a shiny lip with just a hint of color.

And presto you're done!

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and until next time....stay tuned and stay beautiful!
