Memorial Day is upon us....and although I will definitely be plugging sunscreen in this blog, I also simply HAD to talk about the Macadamia Natural Oil No Tangle Brush!
Most of you know that I have my precious little angel who is three years old. She does NOT like me to brush, comb, or even run my fingers through her hair. We have had sooo many tantrums over this...that it has brought both of us to tears on occasion. I literally ONLY brush her hair in the bathtub and use my hands for the rest of her maintenance.
Our office manager had told me about the Macadamia Natural Oil No Tangle Brush and set one aside for us. Our daughter was soo proud of her new brush (more so because it came from Ms. Aly :) ) but we took the excitement and ran with it straight to the house.
The first time I used the brush, I attempted it on dry hair....result?...although MUCH better than other options we still ended up with baby girl screaming in tears. I let the "dust settle" for a few days before I even attempted it again. This time, I used it immediately after she got out of the bath tub with wet hair. She started to cry before I even touched her her (all of you Mommies know what I am talking about) EEKS!, but I gently reminded her that I hadn't even touched her hair yet and that this is a "magic brush" that won't hurt. She seemed intrigued and allowed me to continue. I brushed....and brushed....and brushed....before we both knew it I had brushed her entire head of hair with absolutely no tears! AMAZING!!! This has been well over a month now with the same results each time. Mommy and princess are both incredibly happy ladies and I seriously couldn't recommend a product more.
I know this is a common issue amongst our group of friends and their little ones, so I wanted to let you know exactly what I use on my daughter's hair. I wash her body and hair with Petit Phyto Hair and Body Shampoo. I have previously blogged on this product and we still use it. It smells so much better than the Johnson's and Johnson's stand by that we all typically use. Then, I load her up with conditioner and let her play in the bathtub. I use the same conditioner I use on my own hair...which is literally whatever is in my shower at the time. She likes to pretend she's a mermaid and "swim" in the tub so the conditioner will sit on her hair anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, I rinse her hair (keep in mind since I do not use a "no tears" conditioner..I have to chant/sing for her to keep her eyes closed). Lastly, before I begin to brush I use MOP Pear Detangler and spray it on her hair. Hopefully this may help any other parent that is having a similar struggle. This remedy may prove useful to anyone traveling over the holiday weekend to the beach, pool, or lake...since the combination of wet hair, dirt, and little ones makes for even more of a mess of hair.
Now for the sunscreen/sunblock plug, but I will make it brief. USE IT OR LOSE IT....your youthful looks that is. If you currently are not using a sunscreen or block daily, then start now to maintain the health and beauty of your skin. We have a ton to choose from and something is always better than nothing.
