What's the bare minimum you should do for your skin?

Let's talk basics!  If you search the internet for beauty articles, you will be simply overwhelmed.  Everyone seems to have their own opinion on what you should, shouldn't, must, and NEVER do to your skin.  I decided with ALL the confusion...let's just get back to the basics...or the BARE minimum you should be doing for your skin.

What's first?  Well, I's completely obvious, but you GOTTA have a good cleanser.  Oil, dirt, makeup, pollutants....everything that you walk through and do on a daily basis effects your face.  Failure to cleanse your face will lead to pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, oil and dirt buildup..just to name a few.  The key to finding the perfect cleanser is to be gentle, yet effective.  I use to want to find the most exfoliating wash I could and use it twice a day...little did I know that I was actually doing more harm than good by OVER exfoliating and actually potentially damaging my skin.  All you need to accomplish with your to CLEAN your face!  Search and find one that works best for your skin type and desires.  Looking for a gentle cleanser?  Check this out:

Next?  You might be quick to jumping to toner....but, in my opinion you would be wrong!  The next MOST important basic is to moisturize!  Yes ladies and gents....that EVEN includes us acne prone individuals.  Again something I use to completely steer clear of!  Back in my teenage years.....early 90' was understood and seemed to be common knowledge that if you were acne prone...then stay away from moisturizers (at least this was the recommendation of my then dermatologist).  This logic is primarily incorrect.  There is a VERY small percentage of adults who will not need to moisturize, the rest of us WILL benefit from just a small pea-sized dollop of moisturizer (you may  just want to search for an oil-free).  Benefits that are typically immediately noticeable!  Need a moisturizer?  Check these out:

The last step is something we ALL  have heard of and MOST already do....but get yourself a good sunscreen!  Sun damage is the #1 cause of wrinkles and obviously the source for sun spots.  Adding a sunscreen NOW will save your face YEARS of aging in the future.  Just make it part of your daily routine.  Heck....make it easy on yourself and get a moisturizer sunscreen or take it a LAZY step further (this is completely me by the way) and purchase a tinted moisturizer with SPF!  You can wash your face and put 1 product on and be ready for your day AND already have your foundation for your makeup.  My personal fave is Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture SPF 15.  The ONLY issue with this is that you REALLY should use an SPF 30 on your I usually top it with Colorescience Pro Sunforgettable SPF 50 Powder.

Whelp, there you have it!  My 3 Let's Get Back to Skin Basics recommendations.  This week we will be doing a sale PERFECT for this blog.  You can receive 15% OFF cleansers, moisturizers, and cleaning accessories (Clarisonics, facial brushes) by using code WINTER15 at checkout.

Until next time....stay tuned and stay beautiful!!

Vitaphenol Cellustructure Rejuvenating Serum: One word people....WOW!!

We are in the middle of our Vitaphenol week on Facebook and I couldn't be happier about giving away 2 Vitaphenol kits each valued at $500.  In preparation for this week, I started to use some samples of the Vitaphenol Cellustructure Rejuvenating Serum.  I must admit that I wasn't really expecting to see any immediate results (so many products claim this and fail miserably), but much to my surprise after 1 day's use I saw a noticeable difference.

You use the Vitaphenol Cellustructure Rejuvenating Serum after cleansing and toning your face and is recommended twice daily.  The product definitely has a unique "feel" to it...actually between a cream and a clay is my best description.  I was also surprised how quickly the product dissolves into the skin...although, truth be told I am one seriously dried out woman right now so that may have a lot to do with it....but, the other products I use definitely do not absorb as quickly.  More excitingly (for me at least) is I could actually feel the product tingle and sting a bit.  Some of you probably think I am completely crazy, but after using so many products I prefer to "feel" a product working...makes me think that it is already working it's magic!  I honestly was so busy the first day that I didn't even have a chance to look at my face until that evening when I was getting ready for bed word people WOW!  I had started to notice my lovely forehead wrinkles showing much more than normal and the pores around my nose glaring at me again, but that evening I could already see a difference on my forehead AND the enlarged pores.  The second day the improvement continued and I must say I am one seriously  happy lady!

Since Vitaphenol is a relatively new brand, I figured I would take this opportunity to give you some information.  Vitaphenol is a breakthrough new product for both revitalizing and nourishing a person's skin. Until recently, it was available only through dermatologists and plastic surgeons, but now can be ordered directly by consumers. It contains a unique combination of natural ingredients that have been shown to not only erase the signs of aging on skin, but also offer protection against further damage.

The clinically tested natural ingredients include:
  • Green Tea: Used for centuries because of its anti-toxin capabilities, its rich content of polyenol is credited with protecting against sun damage.
  • Mangosteen: This tropical fruit contains one of the highest contents of xanthones, which has shown over time to assist in anti-inflammation of the skin. Many consider it more beneficial than vitamin C and vitamin E.
  • Pomegranate: This amazing fruit is believed to extend the efficiency of a person's fibroblast cells, which are responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Fibroblast cells help give strength and support to the skin.
  • White Tea: Protecting against the damage of ultraviolet radiation, it gives an immunity boost to the skin and protects it from stress breakdown.
I can't wait to try more of the Vitaphenol line and if you would like to...then now is the time!  Vitaphenol was recently included in the Emmy swag bags (that's right...if it's good enough for the stars, then it's definitely worth a look!) and we here at BeautyStoreDepot are offering a truly amazing deal!  You can receive 25% OFF your Vitaphenol purchase by using the code: Emmys at checkout.

Until next time....stay tuned and stay beautiful!

The Clarisonic Opal: Another fabulous skincare addiction added!

I started using my Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion Skincare System approximately 5 weeks ago (sorry...been so busy with the holidays I forgot to mark the exact date).  I have been searching for a solution to my puffy, tired, and dark eyes for over a year now.  I have tried a ton of eye creams that may help one area or another...but none that attack all of my glorious issues.  At least not until the Clarisonic Opal Sonic!

The system, just like the original Clarisonic that we all know I have been hooked on for 7 years incredibly easy to use.  Mine also came with a full size Clarisonic Opal Anti-Aging Sea Serum to use as the product with the system.  You do need to read the directions and charge the system prior to using...I believe it took around a day.  Once the system is charged, you are ready to go.  To use the product, you simply place a small amount of the Clarisonic Anti-Aging Sea Serum into the tip and then turn the Opal on.  Then, you hold the Opal and move under your eye in small circular motions.  It is automatically timed for approximately 30 seconds per once the unit stops, you simply refill the tip and move to the next eye.  The Opal is gentle enough to use twice a day.  I have been using mine in the mornings and right before bed.

I saw results within a few days.  (Do keep in mind that I have also started elevating my head at night to reduce the fluid build up as well).  The darkness was the first area I saw improvement, then followed by the puffiness.  The puffiness does still vary based upon my sleep and allergies....but even still, the difference is definitely noticeable.  Even more good news is that the product and system do not bother my already overly sensitive eyes due to our glorious central Texas allergies.

Bottom line?  I LOVE it and am totally addicted to another Clarisonic product.  :)  Now I need Clarisonic to make a travel bag for both the original and the Opal....hint, hint.  :)

Just because our 12 Brands of Christmas and Clarisonic Christmas Giveaways are over, doesn't mean that we are going to stop giving away fabulous freebies!  In fact, this week on Facebook we are focusing on Vitaphenol a fabulous new skincare line that is almost exclusively offered online through us and was recently included in the Emmy Swag Bags.  We will be giving away 2 Vitaphenol kits valued at $500 a piece!!

Until next time.....stay tuned and stay beautiful!
